Its all go here, it's a record.

Firstly I must apologise for not getting a NEWSLETTER out to you before now. I can’t believe it is now March, where is the time going?

I must admit the last three months have been hectic in the Drewett household, what with Christmas being as mad as ever and the New Year heralding the quest for new ideas and planning for the challenges of 2009. I have also found a new talent in Music management, YES, music management; too much of my time has been spent with my son Ed, attending meetings with lawyers, record labels, accountants and prospective management companies and individuals. This, exciting though it may be, gave me the temporary managers job, trying to get the best team assembled ready for Ed's assault on the music world. I think you can read an article in the Observer this week detailing his achievements so far which include a record deal with EMI. Now that most of this work is complete I will get the sack and have a few more days every week to be a jeweller again, though the music business is quite interesting I must say.

Food for thought perhaps?

Gold and Diamonds, you win with great prices.

Gold and Diamonds, you win with great prices.

As the price of gold reaches a 10 year high up from around £5 per gram to over £20 per gram we are now seeing more clients having their jewellery revalued. As the value of money seems to fall day by day your jewellery could have increased substantially. We offer a free service to our Newsletter clients to bring in your old valuation and jewellery so that we can asses whether or not you should update your insurance valuations.

Diamonds on the other hand have been through a revolution. The internet has raised the diamond knowledge of people while offering opportunities to internet savvy business people trading diamonds, mostly on just three of the four C's. These being, Carat Weight, Colour and Clarity, unfortunately the most important ingredient of the four C's has been kept low key, until now that is. Cut is the only ingredient that makes a diamond sparkle and it's the cut of a diamond that will add substantially to its value.

In an effort to add a difference the bigger internet diamond traders have come up with all sorts of terms like "signature cut" or so and so's "ideal", to try and add something to their offerings. Adding better cuts of diamonds coupled with fewer good internet traders has seen the price of well cut diamonds move closer to those on the high St. The playing field between the traditional jewellery retailers and those of the internet is almost level. Even perhaps slanted in the favour of us dinosaurs on the high St. How, I hear you ask. Well, the high St, will always offer a broader selection, simply because most jewellers love their diamonds and don’t stock just the 20 or 30 lines that sell the quickest. We are also able to offer a service unavailable in distant selling, the choice that you can see for yourself.

At Ce' we are lucky, the diamond merchants we have dealt with for what seems centuries have excellent links with the sight holders and have been able to keep prices competitive. We, in my opinion and that of clients who have proved our case, not only offer a better diamond service than our virtual friends but compete and beat the prices of those on the internet. Check us out and remember our CUT is measurably better and the prices speak for themselves.

With all the uncertainty in the world and our financial institutions in a right old mess where is the glimmer of light? Well it’s coming! That ball of warmth called the sun will be warming our backs before you know it, roll on Summer.

Until the next time...
